About cryptocompare.uk

We are an independent comparison desk covering the CryptoCompare ecosystem and the wider world of crypto data tools, wallets and exchanges. We are not the official CryptoCompare, CCData or CoinDesk Data site, and we never pretend to be — that independence is the whole product.

Who we are

cryptocompare.uk is a small editorial project run by people who have been in crypto since 2017 — long enough to have watched exchanges collapse, “guaranteed” yields evaporate and marketing copy age like milk. We write about the CryptoCompare data platform, its API and apps, and the surrounding tooling: wallets, exchanges, KYC systems and off-ramps. Our default posture is the security auditor’s: assume nothing, verify everything, write down the failure modes.

What we are not

This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by CryptoCompare, CCData, CoinDesk Data or any of their parent companies. The official consumer site is cryptocompare.com; the institutional data business operates as CoinDesk Data (the CCData → CoinDesk Data rebrand happened in February 2025). If you need official support, pricing or legal information about their products, go there — not here.

How we work

Three editorial rules govern everything published here:

  1. Facts get attributed. When we quote a hard number about CryptoCompare products — API rate limits, tiers, coin counts — we take it from the official cryptocompare.com site or its documentation and say so. Where a figure is volatile, we tell you to check the official page instead of inventing a stale one.
  2. Opinions get labelled. When we say a feature is clunky or a fee structure is unfriendly, that is our judgement, presented as judgement. You will never find an opinion dressed up as a specification.
  3. Security first. Every guide that touches funds explains the custodial/non-custodial divide — exchange means someone else holds your keys; a non-custodial wallet is your personal safe, and a lost seed phrase has no support desk. If a page could get a beginner hurt, the warning goes in before the convenience.

How we make money

Honestly, and in one paragraph. Some buttons on this site link to third-party trading platforms. Those links always carry rel="nofollow", they are visually distinct from editorial links, and if a reader signs up through one we may earn a commission. That revenue keeps the site running — and it never buys a factual claim. Whether a platform pays us or not has zero influence on what we report about its fees, outages or KYC pain, and no partner previews or approves our text. If we ever could not say something negative about a partner, we would drop the partner, not the sentence.

Corrections policy: if we got a fact wrong, tell us and we will fix it fast and note the change. Email contact@cryptocompare.uk or use the contact page.

What we will never do

We will never ask for your seed phrase, private keys, exchange passwords or 2FA codes — nobody legitimate will. We do not offer investment advice, we do not promise profits, and we do not run an exchange or wallet, so we cannot hold, move or recover anyone’s funds. The full legal version lives in our Terms of Use.
